Carolina Coyote Classic

 

Years ago decided to organize a local Coyote Hunting Tournament in our backyard to help with Predator Control as well as a great event to bring like minded sportsman together. The last 10 years have been a huge success and the 11th Annual tournament was even bigger and better! We’re excited for this tournament to top them ALL with a great location and awesome prizes that have collected!

 

 

 

Stanly County is the home of 704 Outdoors! With such overwhelming support from Stanly County over the years, we are proud to host the C3 Tournament in our backyard. We hunt in Stanly, we usually gather in and around Stanly County to leave on trips to destination hunts, just to hang out, shop and eat in town. We are proud of our partnership with the Stanly County Convention & Visitors Bureau and even more pleased to call Stanly County home to the Carolina Coyote Classic. Registration fee for the Fat Dog Contest is $40 per Hunter and for the Coyote Derby it will be $200 per team, you can email c3@704outdoors.tv to request a registration form or register online HERE when registration is open.

Carolina Coyote Classic Rules:

You will need to take a picture with your harvest with either a smartphone or camera to be submitted at the time of the kill to match the number of coyotes you bring to weigh in. Further details and instructions will be announced and explained further at the time of registration.

1. No registrations will be taken during the hunt.  The hunt will officially begin at  7:01 AM., Friday, February 9th, 2024 and will end at 12:00 PM on Sunday, February 11th, 2024.

2. Registration Fee for the Fat Dog Contest will be $40.00. Portion of each registration will be put into a the prize money purse. If you wish to register for the largest female coyote contest, it will cost an extra $2.00. 100% of big female registration will be paid back as prize money. Registration for Coyote Derby will be $200 for 3 Hunter Teams.

3. Each participant must be registered for this hunt.  When hunting in teams, each member of the group must be registered or the entire group will be disqualified. Landowners can tag along without being registered as long as they are not a shooter. If they intend on shooting with you, they must register for the tournament on your team. NOTE: MAXIMUM OF 3 HUNTERS PER TEAM for the Coyote Derby and up to 4 hunters per team in the Fat Dog contest but you must all hunt together. If any hunters on your team is not available to hunt any night, your team may continue to hunt the tournament. Fat Dog and Coyote Derby are COMPLETELY SEPARATE. You cannot register to hunt both. Participating teams cannot combine kills. WINNERS ARE SUBJECT TO A POLYGRAPH at the end of the tournament.

4. Coyotes must be harvested during the days and times of the scheduled hunt.

5. Participants must possess a valid hunting license. Participant’s license may be checked when they bring in a coyote to be weighed.

6. During the scheduled Carolina Coyote Classic, coyotes may be hunted in any county in North and South Carolina, as well as adjoining states. Hunters in BOTH Fat Dog and the Coyote Derby may hunt North Carolina, South Carolina and adjoining states. That includes Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia for the 2024 Tournament!

7. Electronic Calls, Predator Lights, Night Optics, Decoys, Decoy Dogs and Coyote Running Dogs may be used during the hunt in both Classes. When using dogs, team rules still apply. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BE REGISTERED, dog handlers included.

8. Hunters must register his/her coyote(s) in person for the fat dog contest. If a team member is not available to be present at the official end of weigh in’s and their team places in any of the classes, no prizes or money will be released until all members have successfully passed their polygraph test.

9. 704 Outdoors reserves the right to have an autopsy performed on any animal presented at thehunt if it is believed the animal was penned, trapped or taken illegally. Several wildlife biologists and a veterinarian will be available to enforce this regulation. WINNERS ARE SUBJECT TO A POLYGRAPH at the end of the tournament.

10. Any violation of the North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia Game Laws and rules of this hunt will result in that person or group being disqualified from the hunt.

11. We will NOT be using Kill Blocks this year.  Each Hunter is required to take a video with their Coyote at the time of the kill to show the coyote is limber and freshly killed. ONE designated hunter from each team must submit the video via Facebook Messenger to the Carolina Coyote Classic Facebook Page. If you do not submit a video of at least one team member with each Coyote, those that exceed the number of coyotes brought into weigh in’s will not be eligible to be entered into the tournament. A video of how to properly enter your coyote will be announced at 6am on February 9th. Note: All hunters need to make sure they have adequate amount of zip ties for the tournament. 

12. Coyote Derby Participants need to weigh their coyotes before arriving to weigh in’s and determine their 2 heaviest dogs and smallest dog to be officially weighed for Big Dog and Little Dog side pots. This is to help keep the flow of weigh in’s at a reasonable pace. We cannot weigh every single coyote for Coyote Derby Participants.
